Do you see more people living in poverty?

The number of Champaign County residents living in poverty rose nearly 52 percent between 2003 and 2005, according to data from the U.S. Census bureau.

In 2003, just over 21,400 people countywide were living in poverty. By 2008, more than 32,500 people were living in poverty.

Poverty is defined as those families with annual income below a set amount. In 2008, a family of four with an annual income of $22,025 or less is considered impoverished.

What examples have you seen in your neighborhood, church or community of more people living in poverty?
